As a Montana boudoir photographer, I get so many questions about what it is that I do: What is it? Will you Photoshop me? Are my images private? How do I get to see my images the same day? SO, I’ve decided to answer all of these questions here!
Below are some of my most frequently asked questions along with answers that should clarify many of the questions you may have before scheduling a session. To book your session or ask further questions, CLICK HERE.
WHY DO A BOUDOIR SESSION?
Most women never have the opportunity to have a classy, glamorous photoshoot in their entire lifetime. Not only is it an experience in and of itself, it is an amazing way to document you at this moment in your life. It doesn’t have to be all about the sexy, its about you feeling amazing in your own skin and being blown away by your photographs that you will cherish for a lifetime.
Now, in many cases is it is all about being sexy and most women want to do a session so that they can give an album to their man as a groom’s gift (most popular), birthday, anniversary, Christmas, Valentine’s, or just because!
DO YOU PUT MY IMAGES ONLINE?
Only if you give me written permission! Otherwise your images remain totally private. I respect that boudoir photography produces very personal, private images and it is your right to keep them that way. At your viewing appointment you will have the option to release some, or all, of your images for me to use. You also have the option to only release anonymous images where your face or other identifying features are not shown.
SAME-DAY IMAGE REVEAL? WHAT DOES THAT MEAN?
You read that right, you see your images the same day as your shoot! This is especially great if you don’t live in the Helena area. You start makeup and hair in the morning in my studio and your shoot is complete by noon. You spend the afternoon having lunch and doing some shopping and come back for your viewing appointment in the evening. It is during your viewing appointment that you decide what images you’d like to go in your album or print box! Yes, I also offer digital files if you’d like those instead. I serve many clients from Bozeman, Great Falls, Missoula and Whitefish.

I HAVE CERTAIN THINGS ABOUT MY BODY THAT I DON’T WANT TO EMPHASIZE, CAN YOU FIX IT IN PHOTOSHOP?
While Photoshop is a powerful tool, your session is about YOU. I carefully pose you in the most flattering way so as to emphasize your best features. Skin smoothing is something I do on virtually every image along with small tweaks to color, tone, crop etc. During your reveal, you see images that are 95% edited with skin smoothing included.
WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?
I recommend you bring two to three outfits with you to be photographed in (our white sheet can be one of your outfits!). I’m a big fan of LACE … and one-pieces. Lace just lends itself to a classy, timeless appearance; something you won’t question 20 years down the road. I’ve found that one-pieces are very flattering to almost all body types. Things you should stay away from: flowy/drapey pieces that give you no shape (baby dolls included). Also silk with a sheen to it doesn’t tend to photograph as well as pieces that don’t have a shiny appearance. Included in the session fee is a free wardrobe consultation where we will go over pieces that would be most flattering to your body type and that will match the feel that you’d like your images to project.
WHAT DOES A SESSION INCLUDE AND HOW MUCH IS IT?
In-studio sessions include professional hair and makeup styling done on-site in my studio. It also includes a complimentary wardrobe consultation, up to three outfits photographed, up to an hour and a half session, and an in-person image reveal session later that day. White sheet sessions are shorter sessions (up to 45 minutes) but still include professional hair and makeup and the image reveal session. Digital files along with many other products such as albums and folios are available for an additional cost (not included in the session fee). Inquire with me for a detailed pricing guide.
WHAT IS A WHITE SHEET SESSION?
A white sheet session is exactly how it sounds! You and a white sheet, that’s it! No need for wardrobe choices, the white sheet is used to provide coverage. These sessions still include hair and makeup and are usually shorter in duration than and full session with multiple outfit changes.
WHAT IS A BOUDOIR PARTY?
Do you have a few friends that would like to do a boudoir session as well? Book out the full day for a Boudoir Party (available for groups of 5 to 7) and experience the fun together! We shoot back to back with each of you getting professional hair and makeup done and experiencing a session with up to two outfits photographed. Lunch and treats are provided and you’ll all return later in the evening for a combined reveal session. Please reach out for additional details.
