Cathedral of St. Helena Wedding in Helena, MT | Sonja + Christian

Last summer, I had the privilege of photographing a beautiful wedding in Helena, MT. Sonja and Christian had their ceremony at the Cathedral of St. Helena, and the reception was at the bride’s family home just outside of Helena. 

As a Helena, MT wedding photographer, the Cathedral of St. Helena is one of my all-time favorite venues. It’s architecture is absolutely stunning and gives an entirely elevated gallery of images with it’s ornate columns, stained glass windows and gold accents. It’s truly breathtaking and portraits in front of the Cathedral can provide such a soft and dreamy effect. 

The reception was held at the bride’s family home, which is located just outside of Helena. The setting could not have been more perfect; the house is situated on a sprawling piece of property with endless views. The reception was held in the backyard, and it was simply gorgeous with every detail thought of. The couple fully embodied Montana’s western aesthetic throughout their tented reception space. 

Sonja and Christian were married in August in the midst of fire season. With a soft haze in the air from the smoke, their sunset session produced stunning light. Sonja and Christian both had an outfit change in the day. Don’t miss Sonja’s second outfit in their sunset session. It was a two-piece lace dress that looked like absolute fire on her with a fun western hat to boot (no pun intended!). Sonja and Christian danced the night away under the stars, surrounded by their closest family and friends.
