This wedding at Rainbow Ranch Lodge in Big Sky, MT was as picturesque as they come. Nina and Matt planned their Montana destination wedding from across country in Florida with the help of Chanda from Every Pretty Detail based in Bozeman. Every time I photograph a smaller, intimate wedding, it makes me encourage them more and more for my couples. Your day feels so much more like a big party (or even reunion) with close friends and family. The days leading up to have so much opportunity to plan special activities with your guests and really feel like you were able to spend time with them when wedding week is over.
Intimate weddings also tend to feel so much more relaxed. Nina and Matt’s reception area was decorated so beautifully with family style seating under the tented canopy and gold calligraphy place cards written on clear acrylic blocks. I loved the simplicity of the greenery with classic white flowers. Every detail was in place but the intimacy of the table setting and small group just felt so relaxed and less formal. Everyone really enjoyed themselves.
Nina surprised Matt with a horse joining them for their first look. Being from out-of-state, Matt wanted to have the true Montana experience with a horseback ride while they were here. Their plans had changed and weren’t able to make that happen ahead of time so Nina and Chanda worked together to locate a horse that could join them for some photos and make their first look one-of-a-kind.
The night was complete with a gorgeous sunset session with Big Sky’s mountains as the backdrop and time spent walking along the river’s edge taking in the crisp, Montana evening air.
